The
client and the advocate
Aim
: Listen and comprehend various kinds of questions and respond to
them instantly in English
Divide
the class into two equal groups. They sit in circles- Group I in the
inner circle and Group – 2 in the outer circle. When Group 1 plays
the Group 2 observes the processes. They take note of the actions and
talks by the leader and the participants, during the activity.
The
leader gets inside the circle and tells “This is a Court, I am the
Judge and you all are advocates present in the court. Then how will
you address me? The person sitting to your right is your client. As
the judge I can ask the clients any question. But only the client’s
advocate should answer my question. Let’s begin the Court session “
The
leader moves inside the circle, points and asks a simple question
(Yes / No or using question tags) to any person sitting in the
circle. His / her advocate has to give the answer to the question.
Move to some other person and ask another question to him / her.
After
4-5 persons increase the complexity of the questions (Wh-questions)
and then ask different kinds of open ended questions. After the
initial round, invite a participant who failed to respond to a
question or a person who forgot the rule of the game to conduct the
game.
Each
sub group in Group – 2 shall present their documentation in the
plenary, including the teacher talk and the talk of the participants.
Exhibit the questions asked on a chart. Then invite them to form a
circle and encourage one among the participants to conduct the game
in the new group. Group -1 should undertake the documents as done by
Group – earlier.
